His achievements have risen to the stuff of regimental history. Price joined the infantry at the age of sixteen and has served in the British Army for eighteen years. One of the youngest cadets to ever graduate the Royal Military Academy as a commissioned officer, he completed Special Service Commando selection and was 'badged' a member of the SAS, proving his worth on countless covert operations over multiple deployments in the Middle East.
Promoted to captain in , call-sign ' Bravo Six ', Price is the officer in charge of a highly effective unit, tasked with anti—hijacking counter—terrorism, specializing in close quarter combat, sniper techniques and hostage rescue.
He is unofficially missioned to capture or kill high value targets. Blessed with uncanny instincts and an unchecked determination, Captain Price is a peerless combat-tracker, known for excelling in a fluid and volatile environment. An elite seek-and-strike expert, Price is versed in a wide range of field craft and tactical capability. From airborne shock-trooper to long-range reconnaissance operator, Captain Price is a covert, jungle, desert and urban operator, sniper and saboteur.
With a knack for developing and maintaining links to foreign fighters across the globe by earning goodwill through trust, Captain Price works closely with Western intelligence agencies assigned to aggressively pursue HVTs. His counter-terrorism squadron is on call to mobilize anywhere in Europe with immediate readiness. Price believes that the duty of every soldier is to fight for the greater good— "The rules of engagement don't change, but their justification does. He's often said, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
Although an officer, Captain Price has always preferred to keep the company of an enlisted warfighter. John often tells new recruits: "All it takes to change the course of history Much like Sergeant Kyle , Price seems to hate being tied down by rules or procedures, and sometimes takes drastic actions on his own, often against orders. Whilst he was still a Lieutenant, Price was involved in an assassination attempt on Ultranationalist politician Imran Zakhaev under the command of then Captain MacMillan in Pripyat, Ukraine.
The attempt was unsuccessful. Helping her up, the group saved a group of prisoners in the lab, including Karim's brother, Hadir. He then instructed both Farah and Hadir to set up camp in the mountains, away from the Russians and their commanding officer, General Roman Barkov. Given the risk that the gas could be deployed anywhere in the West, Price agreed to help as he finishes his current assignment.
Bravo Team was called in to help secure the area. Captain Price's unit helped contain the attacks and saved Sergeant Kyle Garrick from an Al-Qatala fighter inside an electronics store. Together with Garrick, Price cleared the building, although they could not save a hostage that was forced to wear an explosive vest. Price pushed the hostage with the vest from the second floor to save the others from its inevitable detonation.
After securing Piccadilly Circus, Price was informed by Garrick that the MPS had actionable intelligence of the terror cell but could not take any of these actions in order to keep the public calm; with the intel, Price took Garrick under his command.
Embassy for interrogation and SAS extraction. Price survived the crash, and continued with Garrick to meet up with the Marines. Price held Garrick back during The Butcher's intimidation attempts, which included the murder of a father and young son. Price assured Garrick that they will eventually capture the Butcher. The pair then managed to clear the way to the Embassy safe room where they rendezvoused with Alex and Farah, who had secured Sulaman.
Price led Farah, Alex and allied units escorting Sulaman to the Ambassador 's residence, while Garrick helped the Ambassador's assistant to safety. Outnumbered, Price's group and the remaining Marines held back Al-Qatala forces as best they can with the assistance of illumination rounds from a mortar and a drone provided by Laswell; however, they were unable to stop Al-Qatala from retrieving Sulaman.
Price and Garrick arrived after Hadir had stolen and used Russian poison gas in a chemical attack with the help of Al-Qatala forces. Price found Alex and Farah barely alive in a bunker, both infuriated by Hadir's betrayal.
Due to the chemicals still being missing and Hadir's recent involvement with Al-Qatala, the U. Intelligence obtained during the raid of The Wolf's compound suggested that Al-Qatala, with the help of Hadir, were planning another terrorist attack on St. Petersburg, Russia. Price argued with Laswell about either warning Moscow or letting the attack happen, before Price offered his own plans: an unsanctioned "black" operation to capture Hadir and The Butcher in Russia with the help of one of Price's FSB contacts.
Price wakes up and starts to patch up Soap's injuries as much as he can. The two are then evacuated by Nikolai , who informs them of a potential hiding place. During the course of the betrayal, Task Force is disavowed and Price and MacTavish are labeled as wanted war criminals. After killing Shepherd, Soap's wounds nearly cause him to bleed to death on the trip to Nikolai's safehouse in India.
To make matters worse, a large group of Makarov's men assault the safehouse in an attempt to kill the remnants of Task Force Soap would not have survived had it not been for the actions of Price, Nikolai, and newfound ally Yuri. After escaping from the ruined safehouse and fighting through the streets of Himachal Pradesh , they are evacuated by Nikolai, once they've picked up Yuri who slides down a hill after a Ultranationalist UAV drone destroys a platform Yuri is running across.
When they land in Sierra Leone, the group follows up on Yuri's suspicions about Makarov's weapon shipments, and learn that the recent cargo Makarov's men retrieved were chemical weapons being shipped to all national European capitals to be used as a preemptive strike against the continent in order to pave the way for the Russian Army's invasion. Price covertly sends a transmission to London to warn his former commanding officer, MacMillan , about the chemical weapons, only for it to arrive too late.
Shortly after the wave of chemical attacks, Price convinced MacMillan to aid him as a personal favor "for Pripyat". The intelligence MacMillan gives the team leads them to a local warlord in Somalia named Waraabe , which leads to Soap and Yuri assisting Price in interrogating Warrabe on intel about Makarov. The intelligence facilitates the U. With aid from Kamarov, Price, Soap, and Yuri use the distraction of the local Czech Resistance to their advantage to reach their assigned spots at the Hotel Lustig.
Price would infiltrate the Hotel Lustig while Soap and Yuri provide cover with their sniper rifles. However, Makarov caught wind of the assassination attempt and detonates the bombs planted on Kamarov and the church Soap and Yuri were occupying in.
Price rushes over to Yuri and Soap, with Price personally carrying Soap to safety while Yuri provided cover fire. Price vainly attempts to prevent Soap's bleeding while screaming for a medic but Soap succumbs to his wounds but reveals that Makarov knows Yuri before dying. Distraught Price screams in rage and despair before saying "I'm sorry" and leaves the pistol Soap had used to kill Zakhaev 5 years prior with his corpse before he and Yuri are forced to flee.
As they escape down some stairs Price, enraged and feeling betrayed, punches down Yuri down the stairs and points a gun at him demanding to know his relation to Makarov. Yuri confesses that he was a member of the Ultranationalists and Makarov's second-in-command. They were also in Chernobyl when Price's failed to assassinate Zakhaev and saved his life, and were rewarded for their efforts and climbed the ranks of the Ultranationalists together.
They were also the ones who triggered the nuke that killed the 30, Marines five years ago, but this event caused Yuri to became disturbed by Makarov's growing brutality and he became disheartened by the Ultranationalist cause.
Finally just months ago Yuri tried to stop the massacre at Zakhaev International Airport by alerting the FSB to it but Makarov shot Yuri prior to the massacre and left him for dead, and was mistaken for an injured civilian by medics.
After recovering he joined the Loyalists to get revenge on Makarov and atone for his mistakes. Convinced of Yuri's remorse, and realizing the domino effect his failure to kill Zakhaev caused, Price keeps his alliance with Yuri, even begrudging Yuri during their infiltration of Karlstejn Castle.
Yuri gives Price the location of a potential headquarters located in a fortress in Prague. However, during their infiltration, they instead find intelligence that Makarov's men found Russian President Boris Vorshevsky 's daughter, Alena Vorshevsky , in Berlin, Germany. The pair relay the intelligence to Team Metal shortly after the base's destruction.
Despite Team Metal's efforts, Alena was kidnapped and tracked to a diamond mine in Eastern Siberia, which was serving as one of Makarov's main tactical bases. They successfully rescued the Vorshevskys from their ordeal but the mine collapsed, killing Team Metal Sandman , Truck and Grinch and Makarov's men with Yuri badly wounded during their escape. While escorting Vorshevsky back to Moscow, Price informed him about their plight and the real mastermind behind the massacre aside from Makarov , with Yuri as the witness of that incident.
Convinced with his explanation, Vorshevsky promised to assist in TF's search for Makarov and vows to clear their good name, tainted due to Shepherd's actions several months before. As a reward for saving the Vorshevskys, Task Force was no longer disavowed, allowing them to openly pursue Makarov once again. Price and Yuri managed to mend their friendship, after it had been strained due to Yuri's revelations in a bar in Prague. At the end of the war, Task Force has finally cleared its name and Price's rank has been recognized again He is marked as "Captain Price" during the start of Dust to Dust.
Despite this, Price never forgot his wish for revenge against Makarov. After all, Makarov was responsible for Soap's death in Prague, Team Metal's demise in Siberia and, alongside Shepherd, for starting the war above all else. After months of gathering information on his whereabouts, Makarov was finally discovered, seeking refuge at the Hotel Oasis in the Arabian Peninsula following the conclusion of the conflict.
With assistance from Nikolai, Price and Yuri launch a massive assault towards the hotel, killing multiple mercenaries hired to protect their intended target. They assault the hotel with Juggernaut armor, which they later remove after a crashing helicopter sets them on fire as they ascend in an elevator. Taking off the armor, Price and Yuri both reach the top floor in an alternate elevator, and fight through to the restaurant on the same floor.
However, a Little Bird decimates the upper site of the hotel in an attempt to eliminate both men. As a result, both men are badly wounded, with Yuri impaled on a metal rod. At first, Price hesitated to pursue Makarov after witnessing Yuri's condition, but the latter insists he'll be alright and told Price to not let him get away.
Price continues his pursuit and managed to grab onto Makarov's ride; in which Price managed to kill the pilots and also destroyed the chopper's controls, and is forced to crash on the hotel roof. Price and Makarov, both shell-shocked from the impact, tried to reach a Desert Eagle on the roof, with Price successfully grabbing it, only for Makarov to stomp on his hand, seizing it from his grasp.
His attempt to execute Price was immediately derailed when Yuri, freed from his impalement, shot his former friend in the left shoulder. Angered with his intervention, Makarov killed Yuri with two shots to the shoulders and one to the head. Infuriated by the loss of another friend, Yuri's intervention gave Price the time he needed to furiously and mercilessly beat Makarov, tying a steel cable around Makarov's neck into a noose.
He then slammed Makarov into the glass roof, resulting in the glass shattering, and, consequently, the two falling. Price falls onto the atrium floor just below and survives; Makarov is left hanging from the ceiling.
Having finally stopped Makarov's reign of terror, Price lights one last cigar in victory while watching Makarov's lifeless corpse hang. Sirens are then heard as the police seem to arrive at the scene.
Statue: When Ghost admits that they have no way combat the Five Knights due to the EMP attack launched earlier and they have no way to locate Hidora Kai and Mace , Price introduces him to Adler, who says that they do have ways to combat the new threat.
He then officially states the group is now a part of the United Anti-Terrorism Coalition , ending the introduction with "Ladies and gentlemen, we're going dark. Adler and the rest of the team start to plan out their assault on Five Knights locations.
When asked on how they would coordinate or even reach those locations, Adler presents the team with Swiss mechanical watches, which are unaffected by EMPs. Price also notes that Adler is not the only Cold War relic in operational state in the bunker, indicating an old helicopter. During all of this, a character named Templar is preparing himself, and he appears to have a personal grudge against the operators of the Coalition.
The Coalition begins striking 3 key sites of the Five Knights simultaneously; Price and Soap lead an assault team on the Communication Centre, Mara and her team storm in at the Command Center in Alcatraz , while Ghost and Tank strike a production facility in Hackney Yard.
When Price and Soap attempt to exfil, Templar appears and grabs Soap by the neck, noting he is "glad" to see Captain Price again. Price and Soap devise a plan to take down Templar, but it fails and Templar wounds Soap with his knife and briefly enters a standoff with Price before escaping in a chopper. Price is forced to tend to the wounded Soap than to pursue Templar. Later, Price, Ghost and Adler discuss the aftermath of their joint operation; Mace is in a Black Site facing interrogation, Templar and Hidora are in the wind, Soap is injured but will be battle ready within a few weeks.
It is further revealed that Mara made it out alive, but was wounded badly and is in a coma. Ghost admits that they won the battle and takes an oath that he will "Win the War. Price is later seen again asking Soap for Ghost's whereabouts when he was planning the next op and Ghost was nowhere to be found. Soap tells him that he hasn't seen him. Adler comes to them saying that he knows where Ghost is, and he is "doing something stupid". When Price asks what Adler has done, he replies that he told Ghost about the operation in Siberia.
Some time later, Price and Soap arrive at the Soviet base, remarking on Ghost's rashness, and start searching the area. They soon find a folded paper on the bloodied ground, and as Price opens it, he finds Ghost's dog tag. Call of Duty Wiki Explore. Cold War. After being captured by Makarov and the Russian Ultranationalists, Price was sent to rot in the Gulag, until Soap rescued him three years later.
With the team securing vital intel, Roach and Ghost retreated to an evacuation point, where you all know the rest. In another assassination attempt gone wrong, Makarov learnt of the plan to kill him, and rigged the meeting as an ambush, setting explosives to kill both Soap and Yuri, both of whom tumbled or-so feet from a window, leaving Soap in a critical state.
Yuri and Price battle through the streets of Prague dragging Soap on their shoulders, to lay him down on a table, ultimately to pass away. For the first time in the three instalments of Modern Warfare Captain Price loses control and breaks down, returning the pistol that saved their lives back to Soap, as a sign of repentance to his fallen brother.
Prices dearest friend was dead, and the Russian Ultranationalists that he should have destroyed claimed another of his squad. Even though he was a decorated soldier and saved the planet, his only remaining thought was to end Makarov and cure his seething lust for vengeance.
Chasing the Russian to a helipad on the roof, Price brings down the helicopter that was evacuating Makarov, crashing it back onto the roof, which they both survived. In a race to a single pistol, Makarov wins and aims down the barrel at price, until Yuri put a bullet in his side, and is turned on and killed. Price ultimately smashes Makarov through the ceiling, with a wire around his neck to kill him.
